Product Overview

Starting Guitar is written for kids, age six and up, and is aimed at teaching kids (with the help of a parent or teacher) learn single note playing and the basic chords in the keys of C, G, D, A and E. Starting Guitar also features full-colour photos throughout the book, illustrating all of the major chords as played on the guitar neck, as well as supplementary photos showing the correct way to hold the guitar. This method begins with notes to the parents and teacher on using the book & CD; what to expect when your child begins (sore fingers!); how to choose an instrument; the parts of the guitar; how to hold the guitar; and then to playing your first notes. All exercises and songs in the book are in standard notation and tablature. The accompanying CD has performance and accompaniment tracks. Latter examples in the book include both melodies and chord strumming patterns. Even though the songs included in the book are very basic - Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Canon in D, Danny Boy, etc. - the backgrounds on the CD have been designed to appeal to today's younger children by using rock-and-roll backing tracks! ©2005, 48 pages, Book & CD.
